ACT TWO–SCENE FIFTEEN
“FOREVERMORE”
John Hawthorne and Helena stroll along Copacabana Beach. Music segues from key of C to A major.
John Hawthorne I used to be a loner, then you came along.
When I tried to quit, you persevered.
A ray of hope shining down on me,
then everything was so clear.
And I think I’m in love forevermore with you.
Yes I think I’m in love forevermore with you.
I never understood what I should do in life.
Yet now I know what my crusade must be.
(There’s a) World of people needing love and care
It starts with you and me.
And I think I’m in love forevermore with you.
Yes I think I’m in love forevermore with you.
Sometimes I think its sad we don’t live on and on.
Still you’ve given me the courage to grow old.
Let’s live our lives together with the time we have.
Within the bonds of love, there are no chains.
And if the story must reach an end
Our Dream shall not be in vain.
Music segues into “Better be Ready–reprise” as John and Helena are surprised by the evil Tamanero and his Lieutenant and Enforcer. Music turns from A major to F# minor.
Enforcer: (screams) I don’t think so. You think you could just come down here with all your money and have your way in this world? Do you see what your meddling did to my shoulder? Payback is a bitch!
