ACT TWO–SCENE SEVENTEEN

“HEAR MY PRAYERS”

Church bells chime in F with orchestral chords resolving to the key of C.   John holds a dying Helena in his arms. There are muffled claps of thunder and lighting in the skies.

Helena                         I love you………

Helena dies, and John weeps  as all bystanders circle around in shock.

Song begins in F.

John Hawthorne          Helena?

Helena!

God, no!

Please, no!

(Vocal)                        Hear my prayers, Oh Lord.  Take this angel now.

She was always in your hands, I’ll get along somehow.

Hear my prayers, Oh Lord.   Help me through this pain.

I promise she will not have died in vain.

The priest with Luisa and Waterbug show up and come from the crowd near John and Helena.  The priest administrates the last rites.

Hear my prayers, Oh Lord.  Please give me a clue.

If this is my destiny,  show me what to do.

Luisa                           And from every loss,

Waterbug                    there must be a gain.

Unison                         I promise she will not have died in vain….
