“WHAT ABOUT THE CHILDREN OF TODAY — REPRISE”
RIO
ACT TWO–SCENE EIGHTEEN
“WHAT ABOUT THE CHILDREN OF TODAY — REPRISE”
The Old Man (conscience of society) emerges from the crowd.
Old Man Maybe from Where you came it’s not the same,
your children aren’t betrayed.
Chorus: Children aren’t betrayed
Old Man: But here our upper class ignored the masses.
This–our Passion Play.
So, would it help to pray?
(modulate to G) Can you see our destiny?
Remedy or tragedy?
What about the Children of Today?
What can save us from ourselves?
Who will share in all their wealth?
What about the Children of Today?
Maybe from Where you came, you place the blame
and know just what to say.
If you’d get involved, the problem’s solved.
This MUST be your crusade!
Now what about the Children of Today?
Oh, what about the Children of Today?
Today.
(Fade out to Rio percussion. Airport noises in background)
