SCENE THIRTEEN
“DREAM”
Strolling minstrels visit the table of John and Helena. They play a soft song in G major.
Minstrels More amore amore. Like to know you more
More amore amore. Like to know you more.
John Tell me your dreams, how do you see this world?
Do you long for a feeling that you’ve not felt before?
Tell me your dreams, tell me your world.
Do you think that I could know you more?
Minstrels More amore amore. Like to know you more.
Helena My father was a wandering musician.
Now my mother works her fingers to the bone.
It’s a world of broken dreams
where nothing’s ever as it seems.
But I believe that God has much in store.
There’s got to be more.
Minstrels More amore amore. Like to know you more.
John I’d love to have the chance to make a difference
Instead of watching life’s parade pass by.
Minstrels More amore amore. Like to know you more.
More amore amore. Like to know you more.
Helena Tell me your dreams, how do you see this world?
Do you long for a feeling that you’ve not felt before?
Tell me your dreams, tell me your world.
Do you think that I could know you more?
Minstrels More amore amore. Like to know you more.
John My father is a gifted politician.
He earns his votes by knowing what to say.
And I know it might sound strange,
but all his words don’t make a change–
the people most in need are most ignored…
There’s got to be more.
Minstrels More amore amore. Like to know you more.
Unison I’d love to have the chance to make a difference.
Instead of watching life’s parade pass by.
Unison I’ve got a dream. I can change this poor world.
Opportunity’s out there just for me to explore.
And in my dream, you’re in my world.
Glad that I can get to know you more.
Minstrels More amore amore. Like to know you more.
More amore amore Like to know you more.
Minstrels continue to stroll away, lights fade, music resolves into G minor.
