ACT TWO–SCENE ONE

“MINE”

In Bmin.

Dona Marta Hill headquarters of Senior Tamanero.   The wounded enforcer staggers into general chambers of Tamanero.  He and his lieutenant and other henchmen are in a meeting.  Waterbug’s Uncle Miguel is also there.

Enforcer:

(in obvious pain)         Senhor Tamanero.

Tamanero:                   Yes?

Enforcer:                     I must report some bad news to you.

Tamanero:                   I don’t like bad news.

Henchman 1:               You have some nerve to sneak in…

Tamanero:                   Silence! (to the henchman)  Speak! (to the Enforcer)

What happened with my Copacabana exchange?

Enforcer (gulping):      The exchange was going fine.  Then all of a sudden, an American

and his girlfriend busted up the trade, and the police came on the

scene.

Tamanero:                   I said, what happened with my Copacabana exchange?

Enforcer:                     The cocaine is with the police.

Tamanero:                   That is the customer’s problem.

Enforcer:                     He was shot by Ernesto Carvahlo’s men.  I think he seriously hurt.

Tamanero:                   That is also the customer’s problem.

Henchman 2:               Wasn’t the customer also your nephew, or some relative of yours?

Tamanero:                   That is also his problem, not MINE! I want to know about MY MONEY!

Enforcer:                     Uh…I think….

Tamanero grabs the Enforcer on his wound, whereby the man cries out in pain.

Tamanero:                   MY MONEY!

Enforcer:                     It is still in the bag….still with Waterbug.

Tamanero:                   Where is Waterbug. You were to be watching him.

Enforcer:                     I don’t know. He ran off.

Tamanero slaps the Enforcer. He then turns to Uncle Miguel.

Tamanero:                   Miguel.  This was your recommendation.  What has happened to

the boy.

Miguel:                        I swear to you I do not know.  He is really a child from my wife’s

(shakily)                       side of the family.  Not my blood lines.

Tamanero:                   SILENCE!  Lieutenant Marcello.  Both these men have obviously                                       failed. However, because I am a man of compassion, I will spare                                        them this time. I want you to work closely with them to find this                                            American, or his girl friend, and certainly Waterbug.  When you                                                 find them, tell me immediately.

Lieutenant:                  Yes sir.  What if we recover the money?

Tamanero:                   Simple, just shoot them on site–Now be gone before I lose my

patience.

Miguel is somewhat shaken, and is led off by the Lieutenant and the Enforcer.

Tamanero turns to the audience, as the soldiers quickly disperse.

I.                      I am the shadow beside their lives.   Temptation’s my middle name.

Each day I satisfy their desperate needs.  They mortgage their futures to pay.

Look all around, this land is so ripe.  My empire of prosperous crime.

I have no preference to race or sex, as long as they pay me on time.

C.                    Yes it’s mine, all mine!

And my profits are soaring as the whole world’s in decline.

Yes it’s mine, all mine!

…kinda like it.     (evil laugh)

II.                    Sin is a cancer that patiently spreads, till it has taken its prey.

Maybe the meek shall inherit the earth, but not before I’ve had it my way.

Look left and right, it’s a crazy world, a Mecca of misguided souls.

I have no preference to age or wealth, as long as I work the controls.

C.                    Yes it’s mine, all mine!

And my profits are soaring as the whole world’s in decline.

Yes it’s mine, all mine!

……kinda like it.

Solo                 Solo and dance of evil.

C.                    Yes it’s mine, all mine!

And my profits are soaring as the whole world’s in decline.

Yes it’s mine, all mine!

…..kinda like it….

Seg.                 Who will win, time will tell, if it’s heaven or it’s HELL!

But right now, they bow down before me.

evil laugh, he walks off, spot light narrows.
