… “To survive on these streets, he has at least nine lives.” …

Lucas Rocha was left to look after his younger sisters after his mother died and his older brother was murdered. Lucas tries his best, but he knows that begging and stealing in the streets is not enough to take proper care of Fernanda and Inez. Lucas decides he must find another way…

Daniel Burke is visiting Rio to learn more about his heritage (he was adopted by a Boston couple after a mudslide in Rio that left him an orphan). Lucas meets Daniel on the street outside the Rio airport (within minutes of Daniel’s arrival). Lucas shines his shoes and Daniel gets out his wallet to pay. While Daniel is distracted with his mobile phone in one hand, Lucas grabs his wallet from the other hand and runs away…

Lucas asks his neighbour for an introduction to someone he believes may help him… Daniel learns a little about his family, but he appears to have made another connection…

I was engrossed in this book from the beginning and it held my attention with the clever storytelling… The ending will surprise you and motivate you to reach for the next book immediately…

The story continues in CROSSFIRE FUGITIVE…

AfterThought: My Portuguese is a little rusty, but I was able to translate most of it. I know there is more Portuguese in the next books of the series (the important parts are translated to English, the rest is easy to work out).
